Inaugural Post

I have been involved in sea kayaking for five years, and have a particular penchant for sectional sea kayaks. I have researched the kayaks intently, purchasing a Valley Aquanuat LV sectional in 2008. I have enjoyed it thoroughly and now wish to share some of my findings, pros and cons of the sectional kayak with others. I am adding a new steed to my stable this weekend: a Valley Argonaut 2002 sectional blue on white.

A sectional kayak is any hard shell (as opposed to a folding kayak) kayak that can be disassembled into two or more pieces for ease of transport. It has many advantages over a 17 foot long single piece kayak--and some distinct disadvantages. I am hopeful that others with a sectional sea kayak, or in particular those considering the purchase of one, could use this blog as aresource of information. I intend to include in it not only photos of various sectional or take-apart two, three or four part kayaks, but also many practical tips, informaiton about weight, design, cost, related articles, comments from owners and manufacturers.

I will try to keep the titles useful, so that one can survey the topic list for the information they desire. Over time, this site wil become a compendium of information.

I many link or borrow quotes or photos from others that have posted about take-apart kayaks. If one has photographed or authored information that I have posted--and I will always provide acknowledgement--and desires their input modified or deleted, please just send me a simple email and I will oblige willingly and graciously.

Enjoy the ride and thank you for browsing.

  1. Hi friend.

Congratulations!!! your blog are fantastic for me because I want to buy at 2011 a Valley (Nordkapp or Aquanaut) take-a-part.
